My Favorite YouTubers for DIY Christmas Decorations
My Favorite YouTubers for DIY Christmas Decorations

Because apparently buying Christmas decorations isn't enough. Sometimes we need hot glue, Dollar Tree supplies, and questionable confidence.
If there's one thing we believe at Heart of Christmas Events, it's that Christmas magic doesn't have to come from an expensive store.
Sometimes it comes from a glue gun.
Sometimes it comes from a handful of inexpensive supplies that don't look particularly impressive sitting in your shopping cart.
And sometimes it begins when you fall down the YouTube Christmas-DIY rabbit hole and emerge three hours later absolutely convinced you can transform your entire house into the North Pole.
We have a couple of favorite creators who are particularly good at causing this problem.
🎄 Watch The Gooch
Watch the Gooch on Facebook - More Christmas is on this one!
One of our favorites is Watch The Gooch.
What we love about these projects is the creativity—taking ordinary, inexpensive materials and seeing something completely different hiding inside them.
The Gooch regularly turns budget and dollar-store supplies into home décor, including seasonal projects. One Christmas project, for example, transformed dollar-store materials into Christmas décor rather than simply buying another finished decoration off the shelf.
That's the kind of crafting we love.
It's not necessarily about making an exact copy of something you could purchase. It's looking at an ordinary object and thinking:
“Okay... but what could this become?”
And suddenly you're wandering through the craft aisle examining objects with the intensity of an elf who's three days behind schedule.
❤️ Glue Guns & Roses
Another longtime favorite is Glue Guns & Roses, created by Megan.
If you love Christmas decorating but don't particularly love the price tags attached to Christmas decorating, this channel is dangerous.
In the best possible way.
Megan focuses heavily on budget home décor, thrifting, dollar-store decorating, and DIY projects, and she has an entire collection of Christmas DIY content.
She's created projects ranging from Christmas wreaths and outdoor decorations to mini-tree transformations, candle ideas, and all sorts of clever Dollar Tree Christmas projects.
And that's one of the things we appreciate most about her channel.
The finished projects often don't scream:
“I MADE THIS FROM DOLLAR STORE SUPPLIES!”
They can actually look like intentional pieces of Christmas décor.
Which is important. There's a very delicate line between a whimsical North Pole workshop and an elf who lost a fight with a glue gun.
Why We Love DIY Christmas Decorations
There's certainly nothing wrong with buying decorations. We love walking through stores filled with Christmas décor as much as anyone.
But handmade decorations have something store-bought decorations don't.
A story.
You remember making that wreath.
You remember your child helping paint that ornament.
You remember the decoration that didn't quite turn out like the picture but somehow became your favorite anyway.
You remember laughing because somebody glued something backward.
Those imperfections become part of Christmas.
And years later, when you pull that decoration from its box, you're not simply unpacking an object.
You're unpacking a memory.
Christmas Doesn't Have to Be Expensive
This is another reason we love creators like Watch The Gooch and Glue Guns & Roses.
Christmas decorating can become absurdly expensive.
You walk into a store intending to buy one little Christmas tree and somehow leave financially responsible for an entire artificial forest.
DIY creators remind us that beautiful holiday decorating doesn't necessarily require spending a fortune.
A little creativity can go a remarkably long way.
Make Something This Christmas
So this year, try making at least one Christmas decoration yourself.
Watch a tutorial.
Grab the kids.
Break out the paint.
Plug in the glue gun.
Put on some Christmas music.
Make some hot chocolate.
And don't worry if your finished project isn't quite Pinterest-perfect.
Christmas was never supposed to be perfect.
It's supposed to be ours.
And sometimes the crooked ornament, slightly questionable wreath, or Christmas decoration covered in entirely too much glitter becomes the thing everyone remembers.
That's the good stuff.
